Do you like bad movies? Do you like movies with a sort of meta conceit, likely written by poorly trained AI? Then this is the movie for you. It took me five tries but I finally watched the whole movie. Is there a post credit scene? I don’t know and neither will you.
The Fall Guy is loosely based on a show that only people older than me will remember. And I am old. All I remember was the Heather Thomas or Heather Locklear was on it. That was the only reason anyone ever watched it.
So neither of the Heathers is in this movie. Emily Blunt is, apparently fulfilling some type of contractual obligation. Honestly if you told me this whole movie was improvised I would believe you. I desperately wanted to like it because at my age you don’t have time to waste on bad movies.
You know how they say sometimes you can’t tell if you are making a bad movie, while you’re making the movie, I get the sense that this was how they felt. I think they felt pretty good about it while they were making it, and had a lot of fun. If you can get paid a lot of money to do what you love, then I think that in itself is a win.
While there are no Heathers in this movie there is one of the Ryans. But not the Deadpool Ryan. Deadpool was good. You should probably watch it again, instead of committing almost two hours to this. (Don’t accidentally start the extended version.)
If you like to watch movies in fits and starts it’s probably easier to digest. Or just leave the TV on so you can have some background noise. There are some good stunts, but if you want amazing stunts and a ridiculous story that at least pretends to make sense I would re-watch any number of Mission Impossible movies. That’s it. I just saved you two hours, or at least gave you a heads up.
